Investment Strategy Statement

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Investment Regulations, which became effective on 1st November 2016, introduced a requirement for administering authorities to formulate, publish and maintain an Investment Strategy Statement (ISS). Our Investment Strategy Statement (ISS) has been prepared in line with regulation 7 of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Management and Investment of Funds) Regulations 2016.

This document sets out the investment objectives of the fund and how investments are allocated between equities, bonds and alternatives. Target investment performance is defined for each of the investment managers. The fund’s approach to social, environmental and ethical issues is also explained as is the fund’s compliance with Myners Principles.

The ISS was developed through three workshops by the fund’s consultant, Aon Solutions UK Limited, together with the fund’s actuary, Mercer, pooling company LGPS Central and independent advisor Philip Hebson. It will be reviewed every three years after the investment strategy has been reviewed and is confirmed as fit for purpose. In addition, the ISS will be reviewed following changes to the investment strategy.
