The primary objective of the fund is to provide pension for scheme members and their dependents, on a defined benefits basis. These pages contain information on the role of the fund's investments in meeting this objective. 

While the fund is a defined benefit pension scheme; and members benefits are not linked to performance of investment; it is still important to know the LGPS is securely managed as a long-term investor and how contributions are invested. 

The fund last published its latest Investment Strategy Statement in 2021 and this is currently under review following the results of the 2022 Actuarial Valuation. The strategy document lays out the things considered by the fund when making investment decisions. It also includes the types of investments that could be held, how the various risks are considered and sets out the fund objectives.
